Instructions for the Application to Register a Well

The District is in the process of creating an extensive database of wells within it’s boarders for the purpose of quantifying water usage from the Trinity Aquifers.  We ask that every person with responsibility for any water wells within the District complete an application for each of those wells.  Please provide as much information as reasonably possible.

Contact Information

Owner Name: - the property owners name or business name.

Contact Name: - the name of the person responsible for dealing with the well(s).

Owner Email Address: - the email address of the Contact person.  The District would prefer to conduct as much business via email as possible.

Physical (911) Well Location (if different): - the closest street address at which the well can be found, enter Same if it can be found at the Owners Mailing Address.

Well Information

In General, if the question does not apply to you please put N/A in the space, if you do not currently know the answer please put Unknown in the space.

Well Identifier: - This is what the District will use to differentiate multiple wells under one owner so make sure that the numbering system is something you can follow.

Purpose of Well: - Check any that apply.  Agricultural means that the water is being used to raise crops for resale.  This means that watering landscaping or lawns would not be Agricultural but Irrigation, however a nursery watering landscaping plants or sod which was for sale would count as Agricultural.  The distinction is mostly important for fee payment reasons.  If the well is currently capped check the box(s) for which the well would be used if in operation and check the Other box and write CAPPED in the blank space.

State Well Number: - This is a 5 to 7 digit number applied to each well in the state of Texas.  Your State Well Report should have at least the 5 digit number on it.  This number is based on the location of the well and all wells within the District should start with 68.

SAWS Permit Number: - If SAWS ever permitted the well please provide that number.

Edwards Aquifer Authority Well ID: - If EAA ever permitted the well please provide that number.  If you are claiming exemption from fees due to water production from the Edwards that number is ESSENTIAL.

PWS ID: - If the well is registered as a Public Water Supply source please provide that number, it should be 7 digits long and start off 0150xxx.

Latitude and Longitude: - This is very helpful in locating your well.  Please provide as much accuracy as possible.  Feel free to provide the information in UTMs in place of Degrees, Minutes, Seconds.

Coordinate Method Used: - where did this information come from (i.e.: map, GPS unit, Driller…)?

Total Depth of Well: - the distance from the top of casing to the bottom of the well.

Depth of Casing: - the distance from the top of casing to the bottom of the casing.

Casing Type: - what material is the casing made of (i.e. PVC or Steel)?

Casing Diameter: - if you cannot measure this directly please provide an approximate diameter.

Depth to Pump: - at what depth is the pump inlet set at.  Your Pump service provider should know this.

Pump Horse Power: - how powerful is the pump.  Again your Pump service provider should know this.

Cementing Method: - your driller should know this.

Well Completion Date: - your best estimate if you do not know the actual date.

Target Formation: - which aquifer was the well supposed to produce water from.

Depth to Water: - give the most recent depth to water reading and the date it was collected at.

What is your Maximum Pumping Rate? – in other words how much water can your pump produce in Gallons Per Minute.
